zytech2Wind turbines manufactured by Spain-based Zytech Aerodyne are ideal for off-grid applications as they have the same high quality, work efficiency and reliability as other Zytech Group’s reputed products. The technology was bought in from a US company and now Zytech Aerodyne is one of the world’s leading manufacturers providing affordable state-of-the-art small-in-size wind power systems with advanced aerospace-grade materials and technologies tried and tested since 1992. Ongoing developments have resulted in a wind turbine perfect for today’s exciting renewable energy scene.

All the components that go to make up the wind turbines are produced by Zytech Aerodyne in-house which means total control over quality and delivery schedules for the off-grid kits and units. This also means the company is approaching the one-stop-shop platform for off-grid solar energy systems, modules and appliances for the homestead, the remote facility or outstation.

The aerodynamics and associated technology of the wind turbines are combined with the manufacturing know-how of the Zytech Group and to meet demand Zytech Aerodyne has increased the manufacturing capacity of 200 sets per month to 1000 sets per month.

Lightweight and powerful, the design of the carbon fiber blades means delivery of higher power at lower wind speeds.

There are a variety of models under production all based around the LAKOTA 900 at 900 watts, and the LONG-BOW, at 1 kilowatt power. Basically the same design, these models mainly differ in size, weight and low-wind operational criteria. Specific models are designed for specific tasks. Besides homestead use, rural electrification needs, water pumping stations, weather monitoring sites and so on are examples of currently running operations far from the electricity grid. Small businesses or distant manufacturing plants needing a couple of lights, a radio transmitter-receiver and a fridge would be effectively services with these units.

These robust wind turbines are designed to work safely, reliably and efficiently in diverse environments and are suitable for anywhere in the world. Advanced technology spun off from US aerospace engineering is incorporated to offer the user a light-in-weight, multi-stage upward furling wind turbine design, fitting
Zytech Aerodyne’s global reputation in the field of robust small wind power systems. There are more than 4000 units installed worldwide, including Lakota, Lakota Marine, Lakota M1 and Long-Bow units.

All units can be integrated into a mixed plant, equipped with Zytech Solar photovoltaic panels where there is a demand for solar power as well as wind power. An aircraft-aluminum anodized body is used with all stainless steel hardware parts. UV-stabilized titanium dioxide and linear polyurethane aircraft-type coatings are applied that protect the unit from rain, snow, ice, sand, dust and corroding elements. Rare Earth Neodymium-iron-boron permanent magnets are brought into play to give the lowest cost per watt – guaranteed – with high power density generator technology, peak output power at 1300 to 1800 watts, start-up wind speed 6.5 mph.

Zytech Aerodyne also offers certified, safety-engineered Tilt-Up tower kits for mounting Lakota or Long-bow wind turbines. The aerospace-engineered Tilt-Up tower kits are supplied with patented rapid assembly stainless steel and brass compression couplings that have a perfect safety record. These are up to 47 foot size tower heights. The safety engineered tower kits have integrated stand-off brackets provided that give safety besides greater ease of Installation.

LAKOTA COMMANDER can have the riser mounted on top of a tower and will withstand gusts exceeding 100 MPH. There are 3 compression couplers for mast assembly. The pivot base has electrical conduit adapters, gin pole receptacles, and slip-T assemblies for ease in lowering and raising the tower. Quarter inch aircraft-grade tension cables are used to keep the unit solid.

The Rapid Installation Turbine Energy Center, “C Rite”, is in a STUF – Simplified Tech- Unit Format – arrangement and in the Lakota Commander design is a pulse width modulated diversion load type. It forms a battery isolation system plus integrated modular, stack able, interchangeable, remote wind turbine control center.

A super capacitor absorbs ion transients while an isolation module usefully acts as a unit for battery isolation control circuitry. There are battery state-of-charge indicators, amperage meter, system voltage meter with a high voltage protection diode, modular super heat sink, and insulated high power buss bar interconnection – thus there is no internal high-power wiring which not only brings more efficiency, but also does away with connectors and wiring confusion.

The stack able diversion load resistor module can also be remote from the control center and has a diversion load indicator L.E.D, and lock-able and removable transparent poly carbonate cover. High quality industrial grade ceramic braking resistors are used with the resistors reconfigurable depending on system voltage.

The blade technology results in very quiet invisible-to-radar operation without television or radio interference. In fact, „Stealth Quiet“ is the worldwide industry leader when it comes to the elimination of noise.

An advanced 3-stage active geometry „Upward Furling“ array enables robust severe wind survival advantages that deliver the highest performance while enabling the operating system to maintain a full power flight envelope. Survival wind speed rating is 160 mph. Warranty is 5 years for parts and 7 years for labor. The „Rotor Array“ blade is guaranteed for 20 years.
All-in-all Zytech Aerodyne wind turbines with their upward furling mechanisms ensure that they will not „hide“ from high winds but continue to produce up to two times rated power without damage to electrical or mechanical components. Rain, snow, sleet or storm, these wind turbines are made to take them all and continue to output power. In addition, since the blades are very light they can take advantage of wind gusts that heavier blades can’t because their inertia is too high to react before the gust dies down. Over time, this amounts to considerably more energy extracted from the same column of air.
